When Marcella of What A Wonderful World asked, “Where would you go if the world was a city?”, my mind swirled with the possibilities. Italy, Laos, the Cook Islands, Norway… imagine if they were all just a stroll away!
I was pleased enough with my wonderful morning exploring Cambridge’s colleges and back streets, but little did I know that the best fun was yet to come. Without a doubt, punting down the River Cam is the best way to see the town, allowing you to peek into back gardens and admire the gorgeous architecture – all from the comfort of your seat!
Oxford may claim the title of dreaming spires, but after exploring Cambridge from land, stream and air, there’s no doubt in my mind that the university towns are equals when it comes to beauty. I arrived on a beautiful late spring Sunday with a few hours set aside to explore before a picnic with friends studying in the town. I was spoilt for choice of direction and ended up following my nose, with great success!
A beautiful early morning run in Hyde Park
July was a month of contrasts, from chilly days to heatwave. A month of London fun, and an escape for Spanish sun. A month of delicious food (surprise surprise), Sunday rambling and mini-festivals. All in all, a pretty great month!
