Queen’s Birthday spent exploring Lake Wainamu by Bethells Beach
Hello there! As you may be able to tell by the length of time since my previous post, June and July were extremely busy and fun months. Beach walks, yummy food, lots of winter sunshine… oh yeah, and the small matter of an amazing trip to the UK to catch up with friends and check out (my fourth) Glastonbury Festival! Let’s get to it!
We spent the June public holiday checking out the gorgeous Lake Wainamu, tucked behind Bethells Beach on Auckland’s wild West Coast
The goats at my parents’ farm never fail to entertain
Autumn yellows and sunshine – even in winter!
Sunrise on our last day of work before heading to the UK
We spent most of our first weekend in London hanging out with my sister Zoe and her boyfriend Tom, visiting from France. We checked out heaps of old haunts and a few new spots!
Always love the street art in Broadway Market
A few of the many awesome peeps who joined us for a pub-garden afternoon!
Tattinger Tuesdays* with Gavin and Rebecca in Richmond
* Not actual Tattinger
Joe “blown away” by Lincoln never fails to make me laugh
Our core crew for Glastonbury – heading down for our first afternoon in the madness
Glastonbury sunsets seem extra special, especially in Shangri-La
My new favourite yoga – Power Balad Yoga! Feat. the Power Strum
So ready for Day 1
I’m not going to lie, it was a bit weird having a completely sunny Glastonbury – but in the best way!
Just a small part of the festival behind us
Disco tree!
Lizzo smashing it, and a hilarious flag
Liam Gallagher leading the Oasis singalongs
The Killers, my favourite act of 2019
Kylie made me laugh, cry and dance the Locomotion – so good!
Thank you Glastonbury Festival – as ever you were mind-blowing and amazing
A last couple of days checking out the London sights, including brunch in colourful Neal’s Yard
The beautiful Serpentine
Bookworm heaven in Daunt Books
Of course I had a visit to my favourite building!
A work party was perfect timing to see my much-missed and wonderful team
And back to sunny New Zealand winter!
Not the end of music for the month – we headed to the Auckland Town Hall to rock out to Foals
An escape out to the parents’ farm again
A gorgeous day for football watching
Smashed pumpkin for brunch in Christchurch and I loved it!
I had a brilliant weekend catching up with awesome friends down in pretty Christchurch
Mike Skinner of The Streets smashing it at Auckland Town Hall (I promise there are other music venues in Auckland!)
Closing out the month deliciously at Vic Road Kitchen – we then saw Booksmart which I highly recommend
Whewph… what a huge couple of months. I’ve been busy not just with all of this, but also at work, which takes up far beyond the 9-5 each day. I’ve also had a little bit of writers’ block, thanks, I think, to the fact that I’m about to start on all of our New Zealand adventures. It’s a little daunting thinking I have a whole year of fun to share… but I think I’m now just about ready to dive in, so if you’ve made it this far, please stay tuned 🙂
